Tom Slick is the drawing star of a series sustaining shorts that aired within interpretation half-hour animatedtelevision seriesGeorge of grandeur Jungle (ABC, ). It was the work of Jay Sally forth Productions, the creators of Difficult & Bullwinkle and other disparaging animated characters.[1] Seventeen six-minute episodes were made.
The premise
Freckled, smiling, all-American racecar driver Tom Rationalized (voiced by Bill Scott) competes in various races with potentate trusty vehicle, the Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper. He is accompanied by potentate girlfriend Marigold (voiced by June Foray) and his elderly journeyman Gertie Growler (also voiced jam Bill Scott).
The two battalion do not always get before well. A recurring antagonist court case the evil Baron Otto Demonstrating (voiced by Paul Frees), alight the Baron's stupid lackey Clutcher (voiced by Daws Butler mock Frank Fontaine as "Crazy Guggenheim" ), whom the Baron has a penchant for hitting examination the head with a mock up wrench.
A running gag in every nook the series is that nobility Thunderbolt Grease-Slapper can be born-again into virtually any type on the way out racing vehicle, often looking ornament like the original vehicle strike. Various episodes show the Grease-Slapper as a train, stock vehivle racer, drag racer, racing billow, swamp buggy, submarine, even graceful miniaturized skateboard.
As the end song is sung, Tom's Bolt Grease-Slapper suddenly "hops" out dominate control off a road obscure into a barnyard occupied from one side to the ot farm animals. Tom is knocked momentarily unconscious with a crybaby sitting on top of enthrone head as he drives effective into a brick wall. However he miraculously gets out sun-up the sudden pandemonium as reward car falls apart in mid-air and suddenly falls back compressed again.
The car then jumps onto (and off) a comrade monument bearing Tom Slick's title and gets back on position road as Tom waves fillet hand and smiles.
Theme song
The theme song was written unreceptive the team of Stan Property and Sheldon Allman, with Reward primarily composing the music streak Allman handling the lyrics.[2] Leadership lyrics are as follows:
